One
of the oddest traditional Commencement events is the circle of diplomas.
Immediately following Commencement, seniors marched out of the Quadrangle
onto the Laura Scales/Franklin King terrace and formed several concentric
circles. On a command by Marshal Alan Marvelli, each senior passed the
certificate she received on stage to her right. As the diplomas went around
the circles, one by one each senior let out a cheer and left the circle.
Her diploma had found her!
