Science Night

February 5, 2004
students at science night "Where's the Color in M&Ms?" "Got Milk?" "Hot and Cold." "How Low Can You Go?" "Does Light Go Through?" These were the subjects of hands-on experiments presented by a science committee, made up of parents and teachers and chaired by Mike Mikaelian, to the second through fifth grade students at the R.K. Finn Ryan Road School in Northampton.

Becci Thomas, Ph.D., a chemistry laboratory instructor at Smith and parent of a kindergartener, organized several of the experiments, bringing along
eighteen Smith student scientists to help with the two evenings.

The Smith students' involvement and the resources they provided were
funded by the generosity of Smith President Carol Christ through a
Community Development Fund made possible by an anonymous donor.
