College students are expected to provide approximately $2,500 in summer earnings toward their education. For many, this excludes any opportunity to work with a non-profit or research organization that cannot or does not pay a salary.

Realizing the importance of educational opportunities beyond the classroom, Smith developed the first liberal arts college program that guarantees every student access to one funded internship.

Regardless of the need for summer employment, students can work with faculty to structure educationally relevant experiences that test their learning before they make final plans for graduate school and careers.
