Remarkable, Diverse, Determined: Ada Comstock Scholars

Ada Comstock Scholars range in age from their 20s to their mid-80s; some are single, some are married. They come to Smith from all parts of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, Asia and Africa. Earlier in their lives, their education was interrupted by events or by a choice they made. Now they are determined to pursue a degree at Smith College in a demanding but flexible academic environment. With their unique perspective, they enhance the Smith experience for faculty as well as for students of traditional age.

Many Ada Comstock Scholars have to leave jobs to pursue their studies, and many have never had a high-earning position that would allow them to put aside the money required to attend Smith. The college extends opportunity to this student group through specific and significant financial aid.
