Supports 10 Smith Student Organizations
Along with its generous support of the Picker
Engineering Program, Ford
Motor Company this year established a Student
Activities Award Fund at
Smith. For fall 2003, 10 student organizations
are receiving awards
totaling $2,400. The activities grants will help
support such projects
as a Smith MASSPIRG forum on the effects of greenhouse
gases, the
Luzo-Brazilian Club's Carnival Week, the Smith
African Students
Association's PAN Africa Week in April, and a
mentoring program to be
developed by Black Educators of Tomorrow. Another
round of student
activities grants will be available in spring
2004. Andy Acho, worldwide
director of Ford's Environmental Outreach and
Strategy and executive
liaison to Smith, commented, "We are delighted
to be part of these
dynamic activities on the Smith campus."
