The Visiting Student Program
(VSP) is for women currently
enrolled in American colleges or
universities. Students may apply
to spend a semester or a year at
Smith during their sophomore,
junior or senior years. Students are required to
submit a completed application
form, two letters of recommendation from faculty members
at their home institutions, an
adviser's or dean's reference and
an official college transcript. VSP
students may apply for transfer,
with the approval of their home
institutions, after one semester
at Smith.
The International Visiting
Program (IVP) is for women
currently enrolled in colleges or
universities outside the United
States or who are in the final
year of studies leading to university entrance in their home
countries. Accepted applicants
must submit examination
results (Baccalaureate, GCSE
or Arbitur, for example) before
enrolling. Applicants should submit a
completed application form, two
letters of recommendation from
teachers at their home institutions, an adviser's or dean's
reference and official transcripts.
If a transcript is not available,
students should submit a list of
the courses they have completed
and those they are currently taking.
Evidence of fluency in English (TOEFL score, for example)
is required for applicants whose
first language is not English.
IVP students may apply for
transfer, with the approval of
their home institutions if applicable, after one semester at
Smith.
This program is for women who
wish to spend half or all of their
junior year taking advantage of
the rich curricular offerings of
Smith's Program for the Study of
Women and Gender. Applications are welcome
from students with at least sophomore standing and a strong
academic record that includes
two or more women and gender
studies courses. To apply, submit
a completed application form,
two letters of recommendation
from faculty members at your
home institution, an adviser's or
dean's reference and an official
college transcript. Students in
the women and gender studies
program may take courses in
any department or program at Smith in addition to the many
women and gender studies offerings and may apply for transfer,
with the approval of their home
institution, after one semester at
Smith.

This program is for women
planning to major in mathematics who wish to study for a
semester or year at a women's
college. Juniors at Smith have
the opportunity to work on
research with faculty members,
and many math majors have
written and presented papers
with faculty at scholarly conferences. Applications are welcome from
students with at least sophomore
standing and a strong record in
mathematics. To apply, submit
a completed application form,
two letters of recommendation
from faculty members at your
home institution, an adviser's or
dean's reference, and an official
college transcript. Students
in this program make take
courses in any department or
program at Smith in addition to
mathematics.
