VISITING YEAR PROGRAMS

Four programs welcome women with strong academic records to Smith for a semester or year. The deadlines for submitting application materials and fees for any of Smith's visiting year programs are July 1 for September entrance and December 15 for January entrance.

Please note: The Visiting Program in Mathematics has a preferred deadline of October 15 for January entrance and March 15 for September entrance for students who are applying for financial aid.

Click here for additional information about each program. Financial aid is only available for the Junior Year Visiting Program for the Study of Mathematics.

You are welcome to visit Smith before applying for a visiting year. Plan to spend at least three hours on campus. This will give you time for a campus tour, a class visit, a conversation with a professor and perhaps a meal. When college is in session, applicants may also stay overnight in a residential house Monday through Thursday nights from mid-September to mid-December and early February to mid-March. During this busy season, appointments should be made at least three weeks in advance.

Students from historically black colleges and universities, the Pomona-Smith Exchange, and colleges in the Twelve College Exchange must apply through their home college for Smith's visiting year programs. These schools also set their own application filing dates and procedures. The Twelve College Exchange participants are Amherst, Bowdoin, Connecticut, Dartmouth, Mount Holyoke, Trinity, Vassar, Wellesley, Wesleyan, Wheaton and Williams, as well as Smith.
