The admission office staff reserves February 1 to April 1 each year for the reading of applications. During this time interviews are only available for transfer students.
First-Year Students You should come to Smith for an interview between April 1 of your junior year and January 31 of your senior year. If you can't schedule an on-campus interview, you can use our lookup page to find an alumna interviewer in your area.
Transfer Students Students applying for January admission must complete their interview by December 1. For September admission, students applying under the preferred deadline of February 1 must complete their interview by February 15. Students applying after February 1 may interview any time before May 15. If you can't schedule an on-campus interview, you can use our lookup page to find an alumna interviewer in your area.
Nontraditional students (Ada Comstock Scholars) Students applying for January admission must complete their interview by November 15. For September admission, students must complete their interview by February 1. Alumnae interviews are not available for nontraditional students.
You are welcome to sit in on a Smith class. View the online course guide to select the subject, size and format (seminar, colloquium or lecture) that you wish to visit. We recommend emailing the professor in advance to confirm location and availability.
If you'd like to speak with a faculty member in more depth, you can chat after class or arrange another mutually convenient meeting. Faculty information is located on academic department sites (view our list of departments).
Overnight visits are available Monday through Thursday evenings, when the college is in session, from late September to mid November, and in February and March. Because we think it's important for you to visit classes, the admission staff schedules overnight stays only during the week. Overnights are available for high school seniors and transfer students only.
Your student host or her friends will keep you company during your campus stay, have dinner and breakfast with you and take you to classes.
To arrange a hosted overnight stay, it's best to contact the Office of Admission at least three to four weeks in advance, (though last-minute stays are sometimes possible). Students must complete the required Waiver and Information Form when they come to campus. Please be sure to read it carefully.
