If you intend to apply for financial aid, you must do so when you apply for admission and by the published deadlines. International students who do not apply for financial aid by the published deadlines will be ineligible to receive institutional financial aid from the college at any time. Please see the financial aid policy page for details.

Smith uses the Common Application exclusively and there is no application fee.

Secondary School Report, including guidance counselor's recommendation and official high school transcript

SAT I or ACT scores are optional for US Citizens and US permanent residents. Standardized tests (SAT I, ACT, TOEFL, or IELTS) are required for international citizens. The SAT I or ACT is required for students being instructed in English. The TOEFL is required for students being instructed in a language other than English.

International students who are attending high school in the U.S. must submit SAT I or ACT scores.

Optional application materials

Students with especially strong backgrounds in music, visual art, or dance are welcome to submit supplementary materials in support of their application for admission to Smith. Materials in genres other than those referenced above will not be accepted or reviewed. Please note that all materials must be submitted electronically using SlideRoom. Materials submitted by mail will not be evaluated. Smith will accept arts materials from August 1, 2014 to February 15, 2015. Materials will not be accepted for review after February 15, 2015.
