Hello All!
These past couple of weeks have been filled with lots of fun, gelato, and preparation. Fun = all the time. Just get in that mindset and go with it because you never know when your experiences will be over. Gelato = almost everyday. Especially this week, my friends and I are getting gelato everyday and trying a new gelateria while we are at it. Last week we even got on a bus for half an hour to get to "Sorriso", one of the best places in town. We were a little disappointed with "Vivoli", the so-called most famous in Florence. We rate on price, creaminess, tastiness, and portion. So far, "La Carraia" remains #1. Preparation = final exams, Sicily, graduation, and life post Smith. Final exams are next week! Wow, my last finals period ever. I have an oral exam at the University of Florence, because that is how they do it over here, there is pretty much never any written exams. Sicily! The Smith JYA Florence program is taking us to Sicily for a week to enjoy the sun, the beach, the architecture, the history, and the food! I am so excited it is ridiculous. Thank you, Smith. Graduation. I have booked my post-graduation ceremony lunch and now I am just looking forward to a few days of bliss with my friends and we live it up and say goodbye to Smith. Post graduation life. Finished stressing about it. Something will pull together, I've got some irons in the fire right now, so we will see.
In regard to returning to America, I think it will be a tough transition for a while. Leaving the people here and the lifestyle will be hard. You meet people, build relationships, build friendships, say "buongiorno" to the man at the little fruit store around the corner every morning and then after 9 or 10 months you have to say goodbye. But that is a part of life, and friendships stay strong by keeping them strong so I plan on doing that. And you know what makes me feel most content, Italy will always be here. I can always come back, and thanks to Smith, I have learned their language and gotten the opportunity to live like them for a while.
I think by this time the class of 2013 has pretty much said their yes's or no's to Smith and are hopefully looking forward to the fall. Enjoy the rest of the year, everyone!
