Smith College Admission Academics Student Life About Smith Offices

 Forever Tuesday Morning.....

October 14, 2008

Today is Tuesday, tomorrow school resumes with fall break at an end....

Last week was a busy week at school and the Admission Office for me. The Adas hosted the Kaplan Foundation Scholars from NYC. Everyone had a great time, and the tea at Hopkins Lounge was a great success. The Adas told great stories of their favorite moments of applying and arriving at Smith! It is interesting that every Ada has such a unique experience to share and hold onto. I think I learn just as much about myself from the other Adas as I do from each class I take.

This past Friday night SKC (Smith Kid Connection) had its first Wine and Dine for the year. It was a great success! We got the fire pit going out the back in the forest, had great food, the kids played Wii (not in the forest, that would just be silly), and we talked into the late night. Over the busy summer I had forgotten how much I enjoyed just hanging out and relaxing, not worrying about tests or papers. The leaves were just starting to fall and the air was a little crisp, but a beautiful day turned into a beautiful night!

So my White Sox are out, but I take solace in the fact that the Cubs are out too. This is an ongoing issue in my house. With me a White Sox fan, my husband still clings longingly to his snooty Cubs roots, and my daughter is affected by the area we now live, addicted to following the Red Sox. It can be a very funny, yet hostile place to live!

As I said fall break ends tomorrow, so it is back to the grindstone. As well as studying, working and attending classes, I have to deal with a cat that has to have four teeth removed, a daughter that is heading off to her first local high school football game with her friends on Friday, and fold the copious amounts of laundry that has piled up.
