| | A lot has happened here at Smith since I last posted a blog two weeks ago. One of the more exciting things that happened was that on the Monday before fall break, President Christ declared Mountain Day! Mountain Day is an awesome tradition at Smith where the President picks a random, nice fall day and cancels all classes before 7 pm. This mountain day, my friends and I went apple picking at a local farm (pictures to be posted soon!) Other Smithies go hiking, shopping, walk downtown, have a picnic... it was especially good timing for me because it gave me the chance to start work on a Portuguese paper I hadn't had time to start yet! :)
This past weekend has been particularly eventful! On Saturday night, some friends and I took one of our other friends out to dinner at a Thai restaurant in downtown Northampton for her birthday. I had never had Thai food before but it was so delicious! That's one of the great things about being in Northampton: there are so many interesting restaurants, shops, and events to go to all within an easy walk from Smith! Yesterday I played a little soccer with the Park House intramural soccer team. We lost (again) but it was an awesome game and so much fun. I really think I do more laughing than playing! :)
This week will be pretty busy as well. Tonight I have a meeting for the Puebla study abroad program in Mexico. Then during orchestra practice tomorrow night, we'll be playing with our fall concert soloist for the first time. The composer of the piece we're playing, Joan Tower, is actually going to come to Smith in a few weeks to help us prepare the piece for the concert! Then, this weekend, I have another geology trip to New York state... so stay tuned for some blogging on all that! |
