| | This is my first blog post so telling others about my life is definitely something new and different for me! Spring semester has only recently started but so many new things have happened already! First all, I started working at the Office of Admission as the international intern, which means that I was very busy preparing a newsletter that has to be sent out to all international applicants and also, simply adjusting to this new job.
In terms of academics, I am taking classes in three academic subjects that I have never taken before: engineering, dance and Italian! It is really exciting, but also, very challenging! Another change that took place was the fact that I had to drop my Latin American Studies Major because I realized that I was not going to be able to finish it. That made me a little sad but I’m doing a concentration in Latin American Studies inside my other major, Anthropology, and I might declare it as a minor, so technically, I’m still studying Latin America. The main reason why I had to do it is that I decided that I wanted to accelerate and graduate a semester early in order to have a small break before going to grad school. I’m only now starting to realize how little time I have left at Smith and I want to take advantage of all the opportunities that are available on campus!
This weekend, I am planning to go see “Cuentos de Eva Luna” by one of my favorite writers, Isabel Allende. My housemate Alexandra, who is a theater major here at Smith, is in the play and I’m really excited to see her! I was very excited when I found out that they were doing that play and I’m counting the days to go see it.
I am also really enjoying the winter because even though it is really really cold, it is also really really pretty! A couple of days ago, when it just had started snowing, I decided to go out and take a moment to enjoy the fresh snow falling on my face and see the perfect snowflakes falling down from the sky. It felt great! I was so happy that I went back to my room and finished an essay I had been putting off for days in just a few hours!
Another thing that I have decided to change is going out to Northampton more often. Last week, I realized that there are many cool places downtown that I had never been too so I decided to accompany my friend Ulrika, who is a senior to buy a hat for Rally Day. We spent a really long time at a store that sells the most outrageously fun vintage clothes and hats, as well as wigs. It looks like a tiny little store, but in fact, it has three levels! But my favorite stop downtown is gotta be Herrell’s, the ice cream shop. I simply looooove ice cream and my favorite flavor is cookies and cream. I’m not very adventurous when it comes to ice cream, but sometimes I do have chocolate or chocolate pudding instead. I usually go with my friend Alice, who is also a huge fan like me! Now that I talked about ice cream, I’m feeling like I should go get one… I’m calling Alice right now!
