| | It feels good to be back after spending Christmas break gallivanting in New York. My friend Fadzai '07 came to visit me during the exam period. Then together we left Smith for New York to visit another Smithie in Harlem. We spent Christmas at her apartment with a number of other Smithies living in New York. We all went out for a movie on Christmas day, and we enjoyed a little reunion with other Smithies who just happened to be at the movie house as well. From Harlem, we headed for Long Island where we stayed with another Smithie, Selam '07. This was the quieter part of my break; I spent it studying for the GREs. I was taking the test on January 8th so I had to take out some of my time to do study for the test. Also, most of my graduate school applications were due by January 15th, so it really was crunch time for me. It was great having Fadzai and Selam there to quiz me on my GRE words! Additionally, since they had both applied for grad school last year, they were a great resource. They helped me edit my personal statement, and with organizing my applications in general.
After Christmas break, I came back to Smith and took a non-credit class in Latin dance and East Coast swing dance. It was fun spending the last J-term here just relaxing and hanging out with my friends. Though I spent the larger part of my break studying and preparing for the GRE and graduate school application, I realized how the Smith sisterhood is not just something that is in the prospectus- its real. I'm thankful that I'll have a great network of friends after I leave Smith☺
