 Snowing again!

March 09, 2009

As I sit her typing this blog entry, I am saddened looking out my window and seeing MORE SNOW! Being from the midwest, I'm certainly no stranger to the snow, but that doesn't mean I like it any better. We had a snow storm last Monday that resulted in the canceling of classes, which I will admit, was pretty cool. But now this Monday, we have the snow and my regular van transportation to my tutoring job in Springfield was canceled due to the weather. I am quite bummed about this, and I'm sick of walking around in wet snow.

Thank goodness this weekend was beautiful weather. Though I didn't spend as much time outside as I would have liked, it was still nice to know that the sun was shining and the snow was melting. I'm anxious for Spring blooming. I actually really love rainy days, and that's a big part of Spring that I enjoy. Enough snow, though, PLEASE!

My past week has been low stress, despite midterms, and I am grateful. I am no expert at anything, but I am very thankful that I have been able to keep my stress levels low this semester, considering the overwhelming number of factors that could be unbalancing me right now. I have a few more midterm exams and projects to push through before Spring Break, but I know that everything will happen.

I am looking forward to Spring Break, during which I will be driving down to Houma, LA to volunteer with the Alternative Spring Break (ASB) program run through UMass Amherst and the Civic Interfaith Alliance. I will be in Houma for five days working with a community center, though the exact details of my group's projects is still unknown. No matter what we end up doing, I am sure that I will have a great time. Two years ago I flew to New Orleans for Spring Break with the Smith College Habitat for Humanity (HFH) organization. I was disappointed by the lack of organization on the part of the Smith student organization leaders, and this influenced my decision to pursue the ASB program instead of HFH. So far, I have been extremely satisfied with the organization of ASB, and I am greatly pleased with the preparation work we have been doing over the past month and a half. I will surely be updating the blog with details of our trip upon our return! Stay tuned!
