It’s widely accepted that higher education leads to better life outcomes, yet college remains an unfulfilled hope for many young Americans.

Annual Open House

Each year the Office of Admission offers an open house in mid-November, usually on Veteran's Day. Discussion panels, class visits and campus tours are offered along with the opportunity to meet other prospective Ada Comstock scholars. Click here to learn more about the program and register your attendance.

Campus Tours

Joining a campus tour is a great way to get a quick overview of Smith. Tours usually last about an hour, but can be longer or shorter as your schedule and interests dictate.

Tour times:
Monday-Friday: 10 and 11 a.m.; 1 and 3 p.m.
Saturdays (Jul. 12-Aug. 23): 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Saturdays (Sept. 6-Jan. 31): 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Our campus tours are led by student volunteers.  At certain times of the year, like academic breaks and holidays, current students are not available. At these times, we will give you a map of campus and a walking guide.  Thanks for your understanding.

Non-traditional student tours
We also offer tours led by current Ada Comstock Scholars on Saturdays (November 19 - February 11) at 12 p.m.

A personal interview is required. This one-to-one conversation with an admission counselor allows you to tell us about yourself and to ask specific questions about Smith. Please bring a copy of your transcript. The Office of Admission staff will be happy to arrange an interview appointment for you.

Interview appointments:
Monday-Friday (Apr. 1-Jan. 15): 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Saturdays (Sep. 7-Jan. 25): 9 a.m.-noon

The admission office staff reserves February 1 to March 15 each year for the reading of applications. No interviews are offered during this period.

Class Visits and Faculty Chats

You can sit in on virtually any of Smith's courses to sample classes you may take as a Smith student. (View our online course guide.) The Office of Admission has a class schedule so you can choose the size and format (seminar, colloquium or lecture) as well as the subject of the classes you visit.

If you'd like to speak with a faculty member in more depth, you can chat after class or arrange another mutually convenient meeting. The Office of Admission will give you names of professors in any academic area.
