	In the aftermath of a devastating tornado that touched down in Springfield, Massachusetts, a class of Smith engineering students used this extreme of nature as a springboard for their study of engineering mechanics.

We are not currently accepting applications. The paper and online application will be available in early August.

Please note: Women who are at least 24 years old (or will turn 24 during their first semester at Smith), have a dependent other than a spouse or are veterans must apply to Smith through the Ada Comstock Scholars Program. If this does not apply to you, please consult the transfer or first-year pages for further information.

If you intend to apply for financial aid, you must do so when you apply for admission and by the published deadlines. If you do not, you will not be eligible for college aid until you complete 32 credits at Smith. Please see the financial aid policy page for details.

Required application materials


	Part I Application

	On campus interview or a telephone interview if distance makes it impossible to visit campus. Please bring unofficial copies of college transcript(s) to the interview. We do not offer telephone interviews for applicants living outside the United States.

	Part II Application

	Official college transcript(s). Candidates are expected to present at least 32 liberal arts credits.

	Official high school transcript or GED certificate

	Reference forms (2) At least one reference should be from a faculty member who has taught you in a college level class.

	Autobiographical essay

	Résumé

	Midterm evaluation form

	Photocopies of course descriptions for all college courses completed and in progress.
