complete 128 credits of academic work and complete a major. In addition, at least
64 credits must be earned outside the department of the student’s major.
All first-year students are required to complete a writing-intensive
course. Transfer students are strongly encouraged to take such a course.
At least four semesters of academic work, with a minimum
of 64 credits, must be completed at Smith. Two of these semesters must be during
the junior or senior year.
The minimum standard of performance is a cumulative
grade point average of 2.0 in all academic work. A student must maintain a minimum
average of 2.0 for the senior year.
Normally, the degree is completed in eight semesters
of academic work, with 16 credits each semester. A student studying away the junior
year must have completed 64 credits. A student entering the senior year must have
earned at least 96 credits.
Each student
is responsible for knowing all regulations governing the
curriculum and course registration and is responsible for
planning a course of study in
accordance with those regulations and the requirements for the degree. |
